A quote is the price a review service states for a specific submission before the customer commits to it. It is calculated from the document itself and the review requested, shown to the customer, and accepted before payment, so the cost of review is known before any review work begins.
In document review, a quote is less a sales document than a control. It converts a request into a fixed commitment on both sides: the customer agrees to a price, and the provider agrees to perform a defined review for it.
A per-submission quote rests on three inputs.
Measured size. The provider extracts the text from the uploaded document and counts its words. Counting the actual file, rather than relying on a customer estimate, removes the most common source of billing disputes.
Requested review. The module selected determines the rate applied to those words, because different kinds of review demand different effort.
Requested timing. A faster turnaround than standard can change the price, since it reorders staff work.
Two properties make a quote trustworthy. It is specific — tied to one document and one review, not a range. And it is binding before payment, open before that: until the customer accepts and pays, they can replace the file or withdraw the request without cost. After payment the document enters the review queue and the price is settled.
The misunderstanding to avoid is treating the quote as an estimate that the invoice later corrects. A quote that can move after review defeats its purpose.
Review budgets are usually owned by someone other than the person submitting. A price known before commitment lets submitters act without seeking approval after the fact, and it lets finance reconcile spend against specific documents rather than against a monthly surprise.
